Summer is here in full force, and the Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships Program is making the most of it with their summer programs!
The Binghamton High School LPP team kicked off their summer program with various team-building and public-speaking activities, and a Professional Development Workshop through the American Red cross where they received certifications to add to their resumes.
At Chenango Forks the LPP team focused on prepping for the upcoming Blue Zone Fair (coming up on August 1st!), morning walks, and learning how to be the healthiest version of themselves. They also toured the SUNY Broome Community College campus!
The Johnson City Middle School LPP students visited the Herman Johnson Art Museum on the Cornell University campus in honor of “Art Week”. The following week, they dove into "Wildlife Week", creating documentaries on endangered species, culminating in an exciting "Eco-Innovators: Animal Conservation Shark Tank" where they presented their conservation ideas to a panel of judges. They wrapped up with a visit to the Syracuse Zoo, where they saw a variety of animals including elephants, tigers, and a snow leopard!
The first week of the summer program for Johnson City High School Liberty students has been a huge success! This years theme, Empathy in Action, truly came to life as our students kicked off with Basic Life Support training through the Red Cross, mastering essential techniques like CPR, AED usage, and the Heimlich maneuver.
Additionally, students started ASL classes to learn sign language, deepening their empathetic and communication skills. Each technique and sign they have and will learn is a testament to their readiness to act with compassion and make a real difference!
The first day of SV LPP Summer Camp started off with a blast! The students made rockets and sun catchers and enjoyed the summer sun!
There’s more to come with lots of great summer activities planned, so be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and check back for more updates!
